Today we began our unit on standard and non-standard units of measurement. We took our gingerbread men to see "how many gingerbread tall are you?" The children gave a estimate number at how many gingerbread men tall they were.
Some of the children then began to measure objects in the room with a ruler (standard measurement) Where we began to find things that were longer than the ruler and things that were shorter.
Talal was very eager to show me his finding. The boys went further
and began measuring with cubes and snowflakes,
They also began using "standard units of measurement" like a ruler.
Talal said "my book is 30 long" We began by asking him "is it 30 bears,
30 cubes or on a ruler its called cm" He said "30 cm".
"My book is 24" We asked "24 what?" Talal helped Assim by
saying "cm"
