Measurement

Jack and the Beanstalk-measurement

After reading Jack and the Beanstalk we talked about small and big.  We asked the children
how big would a giant foot be?  What would it look like?  So we made some giant feet then asked a math question.  How many giant feet will it take us to get to the office?
How many regular kids feet will it take us back to the classroom?
So our star of the day Monty was chosen to wear the giant feet to the office.  He had a hard time in the beginning,  but was able to get the hang of it by the time we got to the office.  We counted each step down the hall and did the same with a regular (sometimes giant steps) steps.

We are on our way with giant steps down the hallway.

We made it to the office.

Back to the classroom we go.

So we concluded that it took us 152 giant steps and 161 normal kid steps to the office!  I think we are little off but we did our best!! (normal kid steps)  The point is the children were able to understand it took us less steps (giant) than normal kid steps.
