How many cubes does it take to balance our scale?

Todays question in math was:

How many cubes will it take to balance out scale?
We discussed how do we know the scale is balanced?  The children said it needed to be even and triangle on the front had to match with the line.  We took items from around the room like, a small book, 3 little people, small rocks, a bingo dabber,  scissors, a big rock and a jar of bubbles.

Rafi chose the bubbles but we ran out of cubes before we could see the scale balance out.
Our cubes kept falling out of the scale 😁.  Ahhh
So we decided to move onto another object and leave the bubbles.

The book took 21 cubes to balance the scale.

The small rocks took 27 cubes to balance the scale.

The people took 17 cubes to balance the scale.
