Dinosaur eggs

To end our inquiry on dinosaurs we made dinosaur eggs.  They were very easy and quick to make.
The marshmallow creme mixture gelatin free. :)
The hardest part of this recipe was mixing all the ingredients together, so Mrs. Osborne
had to do this part with her hands :(  The students thoughts this was sooo funny they had to laugh but Mrs. Osborne was able to mix then hand out some ingredients to all to form their egg.  Some chose to not form and egg and that was ok.  We left it up to them to mold their own creation.  With the left over mixture Mrs. Osborne made a giant dinosaur eggs and Mrs. Diab brought over some dinosaurs to place along side it.  Take a look at the end at our final creation......

Here is the real ingredients to make the dinosaur eggs at home, as modified
it a little.  We substituted mini marshmallows for marshmallow creme.

Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 5 cups of mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups of Rice Krispies
  • 6 Oreo cookies
  • Egg shaped mold (optional)

Movie Day

The Land Before Time was the movie one of our students came up with to watch while we
finished up our inquiry.  What a cute movie as I remember my boys watching all of them.
It was about a Young brontosaurus Littlefoot and his pals venture out of the Great Valley into the Mysterious Beyond and encounter a T-rex and a pair of omnivores who just want to be friendly. (Gulp.) The gang learns how hard it is to be a kid on one's own in a scary place--what with landslides and ferocious "sharptooths." Dinosaur Littlefoot and his friends find an egg of unknown origin and decide to hatch and raise it themselves.
What a great movie it showed our students how dinosaurs are like humans and protect their young
when they are in danger.
