things around us. We will be discussing standard and non standard
units of measurements. Standard units would be using a ruler or a
tape measure something with number on it. Non standard would be
anything else like you foot, a mitten, a toy car or a block to measure
things. The main idea is can the students determine which non standard
unit to use when measuring? Do you need something big or small to measure that item?
Today we read the book "Jack and The Beanstalk" and talked about
how tall we were on a beanstalk, so we measured ourselves and placed
a leaf with our name on it to show how tall we are. We are waiting for
Mr. Shaw to come down so we can measure him on our beanstalk.
Mr. Shaw is 6 feet 11inches, how tall will he be on our beanstalk???
