Shapes

Shapes

I got this idea from Mrs. Lee blog and loved the whole
idea around the listening aspect of this art activity.
There is a step by step listening activity but very different
for each student.

Shape Glyph
Favourite shape= body
Favourite colour= colour of my monster
Triangle/rectangle/     body = 1 eye
Square/circle/       =3 eyes
Semi circle mouth= I am a girl
Rectangle mouth= I am a boy
Hair pieces= how many letter in your name

Sorting shapes by their attributes

During this math lesson we talked about attributes of things.
How can you tell something is different than  the other object.
You can sort by colour, shape, size, number of corners, number of sides.
The students were able to tell us the difference between a rectangle and a square.
They could tell us a how many sides, corners and are the sides straight or curved.
We sang a song "Down at the corner at the shape store"  please ask your children to sing
the song to you or ask them about the shapes we are working on.

Making shape books

Red Square, Red Square
What Do You See?

 this book is similar to
"Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?".
Our book you had read the sentence and colour the shape.
Our students love to make books.

Donna and Zahraa made a star wand after we read a book about shapes.
